Fall 2025 - First Look

Scroll down to find out what will get covered in the future, or read the whole thing for a simple overview of what the season offers!
Let me show you in three parts what my approach was: First, I chose shows that sounded interesting and made a list of first episodes. I watched those in alphabetical order, making small notes for whatever happened in anime or my brain.

Then I looked at sequels, or shows connected to an entry that I had already completed in the past.

Lastly, I spoke with the judges (my bf) about what will make the final 10 of Fall 2025 and put it into a simple gif that would track my shows for future updates on this blog.

Enjoy!

Little help:
💖 - definitely watching
👍 - enjoyable
👎 - didn't really speak to me
P.S. I am not including shows that I really disliked, dropped during the first episode or didn't give a chance at all.

What was being considered:

Akujiki Reijou to Kyouketsu Koushaku:
Sono Mamono, Watashi ga Oishiku Itadakimasu!

Heavily fed by my love for Dungeon Meshi, I could not pass up the opportunity to give this one a shot.
Akujiki is a story of a noble lady Melphiera who has a weird quirk - eating monsters. That on itself is very shocking, but combine it with a beautiful red haired, green eyed adorable girl who is always seen enjoying her food... and you have someone who is unhappy on the inside, because she is misunderstood and surrounded by those who are disgusted by her.

But fear not! The perfect otome boy Aristide Roger de Galbraith is there to be her knight in a shinning armor, love interest and fellow monster food enthusiast! Together, they aim to satisfy their curiosity for unique food... and god knows what else.

...and there is a chance that it will turn into love triangle! My, my, what miraculous things this show hides!

I actually had a lot of fun watching this... but unfortunately I also cringed a lot. It could be good stupid, and at the same time bad stupid. And that took me out of it a lot. I don't think this show has a lot of potential, but at the same time I am hoping for something good coming out of this.
God I hope it won't be like previous shows with this setting. They don't usually land with me.

Bukiyou na Senpai.

Office rom-com between publicity department ace Kannawa (who seems scary, but is just socially awkwards) and Kamegawa (absolute walking chaos with cute face) is not a unique idea. It's been done over and over again...

But something about this version is just so fresh. Maybe it's the character design, maybe is the voice actor job, maybe it's the universe setting - or the fact that the comedy and the romantic chemistry works perfectly in every single scene.

It's so simple, yet so interesting and fun! I will definitely be following along.

Chitose-kun wa Ramune Bin no Naka

Can this please be a harem without romance? Just a huge group of friends so we can enjoy looking at beautiful girls without having to focus on the inevitable heartbreak stuff... please please please.

That being said. This is the first harem that I am giving a try - knowingly. The artstyle is just too pretty, the girls shine too brightly and the mc is not exactly getting on my nerves. The philosophy is not dark or depressing, and the overall mood just screams "early spring".
First episode told me nothing, besides giving me a bit of a look into who the girls are... (and they had around 50 minutes runtime in the first episode..)

But I am guessing the point of this will be "get the shut in outside, use my girls as means of showing him how fun and beautiful life can be, have fun being a pervert". Sooo.. this could go either way.

But I will be hoping for best and continue watching.

Egao no Taenai Shokuba desu.

Another show I was excited about. There is just something exciting about watching anime about people who create Japanese media. Manga, anime, video games... It's always so interesting and fresh.

This opinion however clashed with the personality of our main character Futami, who is introvert crybaby - much like e. g. Hitori Gotou - and that gets on my nerves. Those characters are so over the top for no reason and they are just unlikable.

In Futami's case especially - you're a grown ass woman. With responsibilities. Cry and panic on your own time, not in every situation without a filter. It's just not hitting the spot for me. These types of characters can be done much much better.
Just take inspiration in Kannawa from another releasing anime... it is not that hard to make a believable introvert character with social anxiety.

Gnosia

Also called "Among Us: The animation" by fans, Gnosia is based on a Video Game that stars five beautiful human beings trapped on a space ship. Running away from a Gnosia incident, they are trying to save themselves from a "virus" that's trying to eliminate human race from exsitence.

But as it usually goes, one of the inhabitants is Gnosia and our crew must decide who the enemy is.
Is it Yuri? Who was just woken up from a deep sleep after his injury?
Setsu? Who woke Yuri up with the question of "Do you think human race should disappear?" and seems to hide a whole lot?
Jina? Full of mysterious one liners?
SQ? Who acts crazy insane?
Racio? Who doesn't look like the others and acts too cold?

In just 25 minutes the first murder mystery begins, with discussions, voting and sending the looser into a ice box that puts them into deep sleep. Who will win the game - villagers or the werevolf?

God... god!!! Visually this show is insane - amazing animation, great universe and captivating function of in-show AI, character design and art. I am so on board, it might became my new favorite show and anime of the season right from the start.

Kao ni Denai Kashiwada-san to Kao ni Deru Oota-kun

Immediately it reminded me of Aharen-san wa Hakarenai. Inexpressive smaller pink-haired girl as the object of romance between two classmates. And the guy is your everyday rough teenage boy who doesn't know how to show his affection (mostly because he does not know he has a feelings for said girl).

I am slowly outgrowing early school romance like this, I think I need more... interesting plot, more mature romance that comes with different trials and tribulations and actual affection, not just declaration of love.

That's not what I am looking for in romance shows anymore.

Still. It isn't bad... just probably not for me.

Let’s Play: Quest Darake no My Life

First thought: what are those names??

Second of all: I collected so many negative opinions that along with my experience from watching and opinions that I made during that... the only logical conclusion was to drop it and leave it be.
I came for what the synopsis offered - but when you find out that the real focus is supposedly "Mary Sue and her 1000 lovers"... it's a huge turn off.

Ninja to Gokudou

Now this is where it stars dropping and my motivation started to shrink.

Good soundtrack, great opening and very well chosen music for fights. As for the fighting - I do like shows with these themes, but in this case, I don't think I'll be able to get into it. Rather than fighting for a good thing, this is just "killing forgiven for the greater good".

Main character is a weirdo who cannot laugh or smile because of his past, and seems to be above the whole situation with abduction, human trafficking, murders... and he seems like the only person who can kill "Gokudou" - the bad guys.

Art style is very specific, the anatomy seems off and the outline reminds me of JoJo's, animation isn't exactly groundbreaking.

Saigo ni Hitotsu dake Onegai Shite mo Yoroshii Deshou ka

When I found this show, I thought to myself "what the hell". I had no idea what this will turn out to be, nor what the point of it was. I mean, what can you do with a lady that got angry and punched someone?

It's surely a one trick pony right?

While I don't know the answer to that just yet, I do know that they handled the humour well, and made it translate in a light way, that made us like Scarlet, not hate her for beating the hell out of people. (Besides, she's insanely cute as a kid, and extremely hot as an adult - perfect heroine.)

Kyle on the other hand made me throw up with rage in 9 minutes. (2 of those were opening, mind you).
And when his brother appeared, I kind of... got convinced that this might, after all, turn out to be kind of fun.

I am soooo on board, if this will give me what I want it to be.

SANDA

Bringing unique animation and art style and messy retelling of "Santa Clause" and his purpose, SANDA brings to the table something unique in itself - with a dark twist of disappearance of Ichie Ono.

What is this? Why is it so cool? Why is the animation so bad ass? Why do I love it so much???? And why is the Santa animation so freaking ridiculous it makes me want to cry of laughter?
Not to mention the amazing comedy, that fits so well with the overall mood.

I thought that this was a "5 minutes and delete from my list" deal, but no. I am here for the long run.

Shabake

Another chance for historical theme... that let me down so badly in the past.

This time it combined Edo period and supernatural, giving us a Young Lord with poor health and the gift to see spirits. Those are always his friends, serving him, looking out for him, chatting him up and loving him with pure intentions.
Which... you know. Is a choice.

One night, as Ichitarou decides to go on a stroll of freedom, without telling others, he encounters a figure covered in blood that screams danger. Not too long after escaping, he stumbles across a murdered man.

Mixed feelings left and right. How this series will turn out depends a lot on how they're make use of ghosts here, I think.

Shuumatsu Touring

Follow two good friends and their Serow bike on their travels through post apocalyptic Japan, while they enjoy every day to the fullest, with all the freedom and hunting for food and other commodities.

Such sad and depressing life was never more fun!

I like the idea, it looks good & everything's okay with this series... but something is missing. Something other shows have that this one doesn't offer. It's nice to relax to and sooo beautiful to look at... but still there is something about it that doesn't want me to pay it attention right now. But probably in the future.

SI-VIS: The Sound of Heroes

Right from the start I want to say that I am watching this only to see if it's worth my time. Since it's 24 episodes, it will air through multiple seasons, and that never worked for me in the past.
So this one probably won't get chosen for Seasonal time. (Only if I have nothing to choose from in the end..)

What it's about? A music group fighting evil something with their music. This group "SI-VIS" opens auditions and the leader's childhood friend Kyoya becomes he top candidate. However, the leader does not want to drag him into that mess.
So he refuses and tries to push our main character away, going as far as hurting his feelings over a phone call.

But we all know that dreams are eternal and he doesn't give up - having support of most of SI-VIS' staff.

What will happen? What really is the danger? And why is the leader so adamant on protecting the main character? Those answers will have to wait.

Taiyou yori mo Mabushii Hoshi

Why do I keep trying out high school romances? This time it's about a girl that's stronger than average gals and a boy that is basically an angel being reunited after some time as sports festival committee. Having been somewhat close in childhood, the old feelings are coming out slowly.

Iwata is madly in love, facing her feelings with shaky feelings and heart that skips every other beat; while Kamishiro feels like your average himbo - kind, muscular but sooooo stupid (as in dense), just enjoying Iwata's presence.
It honestly feels like a set up to "haven't you noticed? This whole time I was in love with you..." sort of drama.

So why the hell am I so sold and cannot wait to see how their romance will turn out to be????

Towa no Yuugure

This show came out with not only first episode but also prologue (episode 0) and that never happened to me, so I am not quite sure what to expect or what it's trying to give me.

Right off the bat we have a genius woman, 18 years old and multiple doctorates, this goddess of a philosopher who's been looking after him since was a kid and her family adopted our mc...
And the MC who wants to be "worthy of Towa's love" while also having sex dreams about her.

So. There is that and I automatically disliked him. Not because of that - but because of what the author thought was important to be shown - that before anything else.

The prologue though sets the mood right - we have romance, drama, spice, look into the universe and thankfully a negative view of AI all mixed in. With that, we can jump straight to episode 1 - having a full image of what came before the story started.

Akira wakes up in a world that does not resemble the one he knew. While his life was all about AI, this looks more like a middle age village. It's kind of a.... unique take. Travelling to future that resembles past.

Then a second part began - the problem of violence. I understood how it was in character for certain characters and that that's how the universe worked. But I definitely didn't like it and considered it over the top - especially since it could have been avoided and they leaned into the cliché of "i had no choice but to betray".

After the initial violence towards the innocent, women and children (with guns and stuff !!!), Yuugure appears and absolutely slaughters everyone around.
How did it get so complicated?

WanDance

Problem: awful awful bad CGI. To the point where one of the most beautiful girls looks like bag of trash. I've seen Girls Band Cry and Ganbatte Ikimasshoi. Good CGI can be done. What the hell is this though????

Solution: I can push myself and try to survive it, open my eyes to new and "worse than I am used to" stuff while also giving myself a chance to experience something beautiful. Let's do it.

Watashi wo Tabetai, Hitodenashi

Hinako is a high school girl that lost both her parents and feels hopeless... with the only good thing in her life being deep blue ocean. She lives her life quietly, not complaining about anything while being so so loud on the inside.

Who seems like her best friend is a red-haired walking chaos Miko, who seems to be protecting Hinako a little too much.

Then one day, out of the blue, a girl appears. She warns Hinako to not fall into the sea and then appears at Hinako's school. Poor girl cannot help herself but to follow and search for the mysterious person. That gets get into danger, and we find out spirits are hungry for Hinako.

But the girl doesn't fear death. All she wants is to be with her family... but she gets saved by the strange girl from before. Hinako's troubles just start there - as she hears "I came here to eat you."

How insanely simple the idea is, how everyday the art style looks... how sad the story is. And yet it works perfectly and makes me want to devour the series in one sitting.

Yano-kun no Futsuu no Hibi

Another captivating high school romance, this time between dependable Kiyoko and easily injured Yano. As it turns out, the guy is a total klutz (much like An Hanakoizumi from Anne Happy) and Kiyoko cannot help but to care of the injured.

So, their friendship blossoms without them noticing. And in somebody's case... also love.

Beautiful art style, simple animation, cute vibe and lots of likeable characters, it makes for one of the shows with all the nice fuzzy feelings that is ready to warm up our hearts.

Disney Twisted-Wonderland: THE ANIMATION
- Season 1: EPISODE of HEARTSLABYUL

Again, a trope done like a million times, re-done once again. Working with Disney, the creator of Black Butler Yana Toboso brings us something new, creepy and colourful.

The main character is transported into Disney's world of magic and stories, but where villains prosper. We meet 7 of the "old" (OG) villains... but now they're male and hot. Why? Because Japan.

Isekai-ed Yuuken Enma got recognised as a magic protege by a magic mirror and as if that wasn't cliché enough, a talking cat-demon barges in through the window, promising to deal with Enma.

Through cliché catchphrases the villain mages use their magic ("Off with your head!" - says the mean red headed boy. Take a guess who he represents... -_- ) but nothing too important to the plot happens. Besides a loooooot of mess.

This thing is lucky I love Yana Toboso so much...

I am caught up with the manga (which almost never happens) so I know what it will cover. I am a sucked for Yor x Loid romance tho, and Anya's voice actor is doing an amazing job.
So no one can blame me for continuing this ride and wanting great things to happen to all my babies.

I've seen previous seasons and I quite enjoyed them. They weren't anything amazing, but I thought they were decently fun and unique. Just enough for me to stick around and see where it would go.

This movie might take a while to come out... but it seems like the focus might be on Number 0 and I am very excited about that.
