Some Like It Hot (1959)

A movie starring Marylin Monroe I watched for the love story between Jack Lemmon and Joe E. Brown
We all (that being a specific group of people) saw the ending scene on a boat.
Well, nobody's perfect.
It plays in my mind 24/7 and it's the sole reason I am watching this movie. God, how I love random things that get you into random movies.
Directed by Billy Wilder, starring Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon and Marylin Monroe, it's:

Some Like It Hot (1959)

Another black & white film on my list stars Marylin, a woman half the world is obsessed with to this day. It's my first movie with her, but I have to admit, I did not know she played in it, nor do I care.
It's just a bonus point.
Some Lite It Hot (1959) is supposedly the most popular movie of hers, and half of the cast' - so might expectations are high, and excitement even higher.
Let's go!

Before we start with screenshots and my yapping, I am going to give you a overview.
  1. I love this movie. It's amazing, it's fun, it watches itself and the two hours passed like 2 minutes.
  2. The fact that "Daphne" started actually enjoying herself and actually got her head turned by Osgood was terrific, and I enjoyed it with her.
  3. I did not know that the song "I wanna be loved by you" was in this movie.
  4. Joe's accent? I live.
  5. I want more more more
I had such a blast! I've been putting this off for quite some time, for no real reason, and I would kick myself for that. This movie was so swell.
Great comedy, big hats off for the boys running in them heels, and though the plot was not the sharpest, I enjoyed what they served.

As for Marilyn, I did doubt it was her singing during the first song because it looked like bad lip-sync, but I enjoyed the other songs, the music was really cute. She was so relatable as a woman - from going for the same men, to saying she wasn't too bright and of course getting drunk and singing a break-up song right after she got her heart broken.

About that, btw. When I first heard the "I wanna be loved by you" it was in that old Slovak show Uragán (or Hurikán). Andy Kraus was pretending to be Marilyn and singing this in a sketch, where Marilyn was supposedly under a pill that made her crave sex or something. I was convinced they made the song up- ...

While we're at that, can I say I expected more of a reaction when Josephine kissed Sugar?

Still, 10/10 movie (ofc that is biased rating) and I think I might go for a rewatch...

All's well ends well, and both couples manage to run from mafia and in my head, I totally see both couples eloping and living happily.

Now, screenshots!

I am so sorry, but this name... this name is so bad. Poor guy.

This however was pretty funny. How to say you're a mafia without saying you're a mafia? Mozarella's Funeral Parlor. I died.
Love puns! Even those that aren't exactly clear puns.

I aspire to be this quick on my feet. Great come back.
And now that I think about it... she never did get her second date, or never did he make it up to her. Rather the opposite, he ran away with another woman.

Again, this type of comedy. Love it.

I laughed so hard at this. I admit, I was not sure who really liked her, though maybe both our boys did.
I don't think neither was good for her, but I'll let them live.

Me.

This is when I knew it was real love.

First of all, ew, Osgood. Second of all, see, this are women faced with every day. And Osgood was at least a gentleman. But the porter boy? Double ew.

Me when I hear there is tea to be spilled. I am extra nosy. So even though I try to say I don't care... I need to know. Not knowing is killing me, dare I say.

See, find yourself a man who knows how to laugh at good puns... he makes...

Helluva Boss, anyone? The Full moon episode is coming on May and I am not ready.

This was adorable.

See, I told you. Daphne was enjoying herself a lot. The whole dancing scene was a blast.

Yes, you are!!

And that ends my collection of screenshots, because when the ending scene, I was sitting on the edge of my seat, and I squealed so hard during the ending boat scene that my father looked at me like I was crazy.

Great great great experience, one of my very favorite b&w movies, and a good way to be introduced to Marilyn Monroe.
If you haven't seen this yet, I encourage you to give it your time. It is so worth it, it's the ultimate feel good movie.
