Ore wo Suki nano wa Omae dake ka yo [update incoming]

Welcome to the new type of review!

In this section we will take look at the shows I've watched and I will try to give you a few reasons to watch or a few reason why it's not worth your time. Sometimes it's hard to write a review for every show you watch, a good review that is. But you can always make a list of things you liked and disliked about the show!
I am covering a lot of the anime in Anime wrap-up or Down the memory lane, but that's usually just to tell you my opinion and score.
In this section, I will try to address the strong and the weak sides of the anime we're covering. Standalone series will have one post dedicated to them, and series (OVAs, specials and sequels) will be done together as well.

This part will be updated once I finish the sequel(s)! Stay updated!

Ore wo Suki nano wa Omae dake ka yo

Quick summary:

Joro isn't just an ordinary rom-com protagonist. He is a self-aware rom-com protagonist! Having a beef with bench after loads and load of confessions he realizes that he won't get a girls of his dream - because he hadn't met her yet. After a few of heart-breaking confessions he meets Pansy. Joro's luck seems to shift, but to the wrong end. Suddenly he has more love candidates than he know how to deal with. But unfortunately, he doesn't love any of them...
Enjoying his little harem, he has no idea what will happen once enemies start to appear. Someone lurking in the shadows makes Pansy hide her true form, Joro gets accused of being a Slipper-licking pervert and then a rival appears??

👌 Cute girl, cute girl, cute girl, cute...

We are introduced not to one, not to three, not five but nine (9!) cute girls with pretty hair and fun personalities. Or well, maybe not fun but at least different. Okay, maybe not different in the world of anime but different from each other... Look, I'm trying. This anime is giving me a hard time.
Our three main girls are Himawari (sunflower) that hits Joro's shoulder so hard I'm surprised she didn't break any bones, reliable student council president Cosmos who speaks like a samurai, and the mysterious Pansy who for some reasons loves Joro.
One by own we get to meet more of the girls - so chances are you will fall in love with one or two of them. And honestly, what more do you want from ecchi??
I would like to bring everyone's attention to the Flower Dance.

👌 Repeating a joke makes it.... still pretty funny?

You know what they say - if you keep making the same joke it will get boring and you will become annoying. Well, usually that is the case. (First episode of Gekkan Mousou Kagaku would tell you, ugh) but in this anime, the jokes kept on landing!
Actually, the more a joke was told the funnier it got! (But then there were moments in which they forgot about the joke and that felt disappointing.)
The bench for example - the ultimate villain of the show, that kept appearing in the weirdest places. The hair twisting, the same pattern, and them going back to the baseball game all. the. time!
I especially loved the ongoing joke with the nicknames. Girls named after flowers - how adorable is that?? It's really perfect!

👌 4th wall destroyed

I can't even describe how funny the 4th wall breaks were! It was mostly Joro, sure, but it was ver very funny.
Referencing past episodes, understanding that he was a romance protagonist... It was so smart. And so fun.
But at the same time it was a curse. Joro's always changing character was getting on my nerves. He was normal most of the time - but sometimes he copied the happy-go-lucky character with high-pitched voice and sometimes he just started calling his childhood girlfriend b*tch. It was confusing, it didn't really land and the anime could go without it.

👇 Becoming the very thing they swore to destroy

We all love parody. We all love a good executed parody - which ORESUKI is. However, you can either make fun of something or be that something. If you make fun of someone for being short while you can't even reach the top shelf, well that makes you a hypocrite.
For those of you who didn't catch on yet, ORESUKI is a hypocrite. While making fun of generic rom-com plots, it gives us the exact same story. If it was fresh and fun, I would stay quiet. But it's the same as any other anime of this type and that makes their comedy fall flat at times...

👇 Snail is faster and watching paint dry more interesting

Watching this dragged so hard. You might have read that in my wrap-up that came out at the time I actually finished watching it. I will repeat it now too. It dragged.
Watching one episode felt like watching a two hour long movie, there wasn't a single episode that felt fun and entertaining for more than 2 minutes at a time.
Even the usual fanservice episode with swimsuits and lot of boob shots couldn't keep me entertained enough to stay properly focused. I laughed, I rolled my eyes... but I had to take a lot of breaks. And that does hurt the show's reputation.

Conclusionabsolutely mixed feelings 💫
