Hello hello! Anime Wrap-Up is a new section of this blog, directed to anime I've
consumed in any way during the previous week/month.
I will try to address fun details, important notes, and do sort of a
review for them.
As I already addressed I love anime. I have been enjoying it since
circa 2016 and ever since that year I watched little over 350
anime. I have been writing reviews, fanfictions and forum discussion about
various anime I have seen, dropped or was watching.
Let's get to it!

This week we'll focus on last two months, from November 30th to
December 31st. It's a long one, but it's still fresh in my head - and this
week is still in process. Plus, I want to test this section 😄
Let me show you the anime we'll be covering in this wrap-up, in a little gif:

Yakusoku no Neverland 2 (The promised Neverland Season 2)
If we follow in time, we should start with Yakusoku no Neverland 2. I have seen the first season back when it was hitting the charts. An
Italian friend of mine recommended it to me, after reading and loving the
manga. So I gave it a chance. I was skeptical and it's hard to tell if I
really liked it... but I gave the second season a chance. My rating
is 7/10.
What can I say, I liked it! I remembered practically nothing from the
first season, but it was very interesting and it managed to hook me in. I
liked the character of Mujika and I think the plot was great. Of course,
the end twist was a bit weird and the ending could be made into a final
movie or maybe a third season, but it was emotional and interesting. It
really made me want to read the manga, despite not being a manga
reader.
I don't understand why people hate it so much...

Gake no Ue no Ponyo (Ponyo)
Moving on to Gake no Ue no Ponyo a Ghibli movie. So you
know to expect a treasure. Ponyo was a beautiful story about a young kid
and a goldfish that became a human kid. It was mesmerising. The art, the
animation, the music... However in comparation to other Ghibli movies I've
seen, Ponyo is only a 6/10. I still do
recommend it! It really heals the inner child.

Mimi wo Sumaseba (Whisper of the Heart)
Another of Ghibli movies I watched during those two months was Mimi wo Sumaseba. Now this was a movie! With the score of
8/10 it easily became one of my
favorites from this studio. I believe we watched this movie in Czech
language (we being me and my college dorm roomate) and we both loved it.
The cover of the song Country roads in Czech was simply wild, and we were
the most interested in the story of Baron, however it was romantic, made
us swoon and left us feeling content.

Colorful (Colorful ~ The Motion Picture)
Colorful is another movie. It is liked by most, with Anilist Mean
Score of 75% it seemed to be an amazing experience about discovering self.
I didn't like it. My score is only
5/10. The animation was different than
what we normally see, which wasn't a problem. The pacing of the story, the
unlikable character and seemingly no real plot, Colorful didn't manage to
catch me and convince me of it's philosophy. This was probably the biggest
disappointment of this wrap-up.

Thermae Romae
Let's move to a historical comedy Thermae Romae. I've wanted to read the manga but it happened that I watched the first
(and my last) adaptation of it. I didn't expect much, so I wasn't
disappointed. The comedy wasn't even dry, it was just stupid and
non-existent. 4/10 for me.

Tokyo 7th Sisters: Bokura wa Aozora ni Naru
For a moment, we'll go back to being generous with our
scoring. Tokyo 7th Sisters: Bokura wa Aozora ni Naru is a music movie about
idols that gives us amazing potential, adorable girls and fun music to
dance to. The only downside was, that the movie itself would work better
as a series, as it dragged out and could become boring. Tokyo 7th Sisters
is primarily manga, so that makes me relieved - otherwise I'd be really
mad about getting to know 14 cute girls doing cute things and having only
an hour and few minutes to enjoy them. It's 7/10 at heart, but the final
scoring is 5/10.

Shin Seiki Evangelion + Movie: Air / Magokoro wo, Kimi ni
(Neon Genesis Evangelion + Movie: The end of Evangelion)
Now... for the love of God... this will be... hard... We're going to cover both Shin Seiki Evangelion the original series and Shin Seiki Evangelion Movie: Air / Magokoro wo, Kimi ni the end of Evangelion. I was skeptical at first and the overhype this
series got made me hate it, and made me never wanna see it. The
circumstances under which I watched these two shows is not important,
important it that I hated it. Apart from the art and animation, I was left
content because I knew it's overrated. The series get a score of 4/10 and the movie lower score of 3/10.
You are all welcomed to "argue" with me in comments, or try and explain
this show to me. I will be only happy to read it all and have my opinion
changed.
But I need to be honest here. It's overhyped as a classic, but it misses a lot of things. The characters are extremely flat and half of them has no development. Those that do have such stupid backstory and such stupid storyline. It's not interesting, nor it makes me empathetic. Not to mention the ending is confusing, makes no sense and whoever wants to sell it just calls out it's philosophy - which is really silly.

Shin Seiki Evangelion is usually compared to Darling in the Franxx...
and let me tell you, I loved Darling in the Franxx.
Again, feel free to start a debate in the comments!

Maria†Holic Alive
Staying with bad shows that made me roll my eyes, let's adress Maria†Holic Alive. It's one of the shows that sounds great, comes out stupid and makes you want to continue watching in the last few episodes. This ode to lesbians gets 3/10 too. If you like the idea of crossdressing or want to watch something with a lesbian protagonist - find something different.

Koko wa Green Wood (Here is Greenwood)
Koko wa Green Wood saved me from the desperation I was in. I
started watching in during cooking, thinking I will just listen to it and
see what it's about. Here is Greenwood made my heart skip a beat, and in
all it's beauty it gets an amazing score of 8/10.
For those of you who don't know Here is Grenwood - oh, you do know it.

Not to mention the quote: "Heyy! I'm going through puberty, you know. If you don't treat me
right, I'll end up with some weird complex!" And that is just from one episode! Please, please give this a shot if
you haven't yet. God, watch it in dub if you want to, it's still great
like that. Here is Greenwood was a masterpiece, and it was easily the
best anime I've seen in months.

Senryuu Shoujo (Senryuu Girl)
Senryuu Shoujo is the last good show we'll cover in this wrap -
up. This cute rom-com gets a rating of 6/10 which is low, but not bad. We get a 12 minute per episode
anime, with female protagonist that only speaks through senryuu poems.
She falls for a "deliquent" Eiji and their relationships makes 0
progress, yet gives us a couple cute moments.

One Punch Man
One Punch Man is a show I started watching a long time ago, but
I dropped it because I was bored. I rewatched it because of a
challenge... but it did not get better. Score
3/10 might be a bit low,
but I was extremely bored through it all. Not even the sexy green
villainess made me interested.
It reminded me of My hero academia a lot, but worse. And I don't like
My hero academia...

Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu (Parasyte -the maxim-)
Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu began great. Horror/supernatural show with likeable main character and cute love interest started out strong and made me want to see more and right away! From (circa) episode 12 it went quickly downhill. And the ending was simply atrocious. 6/10 for Parasyte.
